I had imagined sitting on the couch, relaxing, chilling, visualising a successful Rottnest swim for at least part of today, but that didn’t happen. I thought I was organised, but there was still shopping for fake carbo loaded food and organising to be done. But I managed to keep my calm all day.
Husband Tim (paddling), dad Ron (paddling) and I visited Jack Baxter, former America’s Cup navigator, for some help on charting a course to Rotto. His advice was to go south, to make use of the South to North current around Rottnest. Which we thought was giving as an edge, but turned out to give us anything but!
I prepared all of my "food" and drinks, and then we took all our gear down to the river to meet our skipper (John) and Michael (Tim’s brother & John’s best mate). Loaded the boat, made some last minute plans about meeting up in the morning and then that was it! Tomorrow is it!
